Flores Abuelos Visit (06/07/11-06/12/11)

The Flores Abuelitos came to visit this past week. We got to do lots of stuff, AND as usual, Nico got pampered---and loved it!
Here's a recap of the last week of adventures!
Wednesday:
We went to THE GROVE:

There we saw Mario Lopez and got to be the "audience" in the Extra show!
We stopped at Target for some goodies....Nico got 2 really cool things:
A Thomas the Train Book-bag...which Nico put on and immediately started pointing to his back saying--TuTu TuTu
And he also got a Baby leash..lol
Peter got out early and we went to Mother's Beach to use the Stand UP paddle board in the Marina and ate at CheeseCake Factory.

Thursday: we biked to Music Time at the Cow's End for some crowded and hot kids music time. When we got out, we biked to the Santa Monica Pier and won a whole bunch of FREE STUFF from Hawaiian Tropic.

In the evening Peter, the Abuelos, and Charlie went to watch the Heat game with Nico at a nearby burger joint while I had an online meeting for MY NEW JOB (TYSON METHOD TRAINER).

Friday:
We left really early for YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK! We packed the Abuelos Rental car as if we were MOVING to the National Park, just in case we got the urge to stay...lol. The trip took a couple hours....like 8. The first couple hours, I was struggling in the back with some very TIMLY STOMACH CRAMPS...of course, since were were going to be in a care for a long time and then HIKING in the woods....SUCH is life!
Our First stop was at a Gas station in the middle of now where where Pete bought Nico the first of MANY gas station toys: a not so little bull dog-
One of the longer stops was at Pioneer Yosemite History Center--our Lunch Stop once we got into Yosemite Park:

When we finally got to CURRY VILLAGE...Just out of a Disney Movie right...=)
There were tents and cabins, we were pleasantly surprised with how cool the cabins were.
We put our stuff in the cabin--which was AMAZINGLY CUTE AND COMFY, and went on a little hike with Brenda(my LA mommy friend), Robert(her husband), Mia(Nico's friend), Carol and Joe(Robert's Parents).
Saturday:
Was filled with Hiking, Spectacular views, lots of deer sightings, Nico's first blood shedding accident(mouth), lots of walking, and a really interesting convo with the author and illustrator of a children's book series: Little Ty Cooney National Wonders Series.

Sunday:
We headed back after stoping at Glacier Point at 7,500Ft of elevation...

...where we saw SNOWand it was warm enough for me to be in a TANG TOP!!!
The View was breathtaking!!
Nico had his first Full-blown TANTRUM. It was very difficult to handle and frustrating, especially because we were in such a beautiful place that I really wanted to enjoy WITH the smiling happy version of my son...but, such is life...Veronica was able to get some beautiful pictures before and even DURING the tantrum.

Then we began the drive home---

---with the goal of making it back to watch the HEAT game...which UNFORTUNATELY resulted in the Heat Loosing. =(
We made one stop on the way home...at a super expensive gas station on the edge of

At nearly 270,000 acres, Tejon Ranch is the largest continuous expanse of private land in California. Its 422 square miles make it almost as large as the City of Los Angeles and about 40% the size of Rhode Island. The Ranch is located along Interstate 5, approximately 60 miles north of Los Angeles and 30 miles south of Bakersfield.

Tejon Ranch was founded in 1843 as a Mexican land grant. In the decades that followed, the Ranch grew in size as additional land grants were purchased by Tejon’s founder, General Edward Fitzgerald Beale, a historic figure in early California. The 270,000–acre Ranch is now the principal asset of the Tejon Ranch Company, which was incorporated in 1936. The Company’s stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “TRC.”

At this gas station, Nico got Abuelito to buy him a red CAR =)

Monday:
We went on a bike ride in the afternoon to Playa del Rey Beach and just HUNG OUT. After Peter started doing push-ups, Nico started doing some too! It was adorable! I barely got it on video here....but I'll try and get more videos up later---once the abuelos put up their videos...I know they got some good ones! We grabbed some appetizers at Happy Hour at El Torrito at Fisherman's Village and then headed back home. The abuelos headed out to the airport shortly after----We know they were sad to leave Nico...and Nico already misses them. He has been looking around all morning...I guess he's wondering..."Did my abuelos get sucked back into the computer and phone??"
Thank you Vivi and Granddad for sharing in Nico's first Camping Experience and coming out here once again to visit! Congratulations of your new home in Lower KEY LARGO!!!!

  1. Small world. That book you included a picture of is written by my good friend Kathryn's brother. She is a pretty good artist too. It looks like you met him!
